Fleet managers in blue-chip companies were seeking
to improve vehicle residual values at disposal. HR departments wanted
to improve the overall benefits proposition for their employees.
Autopoint – the retail division of Interleasing, one of the
top five vehicle leasing companies in the UK and part of the General
Motors GMAS Corporation – tasked Technical direct with providing an
e-commerce platform for on-line retailing of used cars. |

Technical direct created the eDefined.com package, based on
a fully functional ‘virtual’ car showroom which enables
potential buyers to choose used cars from a range of major company
fleets. It features a dynamically updateable car database, leading
edge search and order functionality and blue-chip level branding.
The site integrates seamlessly with an advanced fleet management
system, enabling cars to be deleted from and added to the database
as they are sold and as new fleets become available. The system
maintains industry data to ensure that vehicles are properly described,
as well as competitively priced and costed.
Another integral feature of the eDefined.com package is the Prospect
Relationship Management system which tracks all leads and enquiries,
from initial contact right through to completion. It helps match
available cars with potential customers and keeps in touch electronically
and through real call centre contact.
The system allows Autopoint to use dynamic web technology to stay
real-time abreast of its fast-changing market and respond to the
bespoke requirements of the fleet owners and HR professionals with
whom it interfaces.
Targeted at affinity groups as an employee benefit, the site has
been taken up by companies such at BT, Whitbread, Tesco, Asda and
Page & Moy.
To support the marketing of the proposition, Technical direct
created a number of B2B business development sites, such as Carbenefits
which targets future Fleet owners and HR professionals and forms
an integral part of Autopoint’s business development plan.
Technical direct also works with Autopoint to ensure that all collateral,
such as print, advertising and presentations, is created to deliver
a fully integrated brand across the entire communications activity. |

Julian Pullen, General Manager of Autopoint, states
that, “The eDefined solution is delivering better performance
ratios in terms of vehicle sales to enquiries – and therefore
happy customers – than any other form of sales or marketing
strategy”.
